Boys' track team places third in region
Eleven GRC athletes will compete May 19 in Louisville in the KHSAA State Track Championships after qualifying at the Class 3A Region 7 track meet in Richmond. GRC's region champions for 2012 are Jonathan Hubbard, high jump; Pokey Harris, 100-meter and 200-meter; and boys' 4X200 relay (Clay Dixon, Mark Davis, Andrew Ping, Andrew Walker, Pokey Harris, Lawrence Williams, Darian Farris and John Dixon). Davis also qualified for state in the 400-meter run, placing second. Alex White advances to Saturday's big dance, placing second in the 3200 meter. On the girls' side, Cora Kerber qualified for state by placing second in the 800 meter. In final team scores, the boys' team placed third and the girls' team placed 8th.

Indoor Track Team finishes 7th at state The Indoor Track team placed 7th at the state meet in Louisville. Senior Pokey Harris won an individual state championship jin the 55m dash, and Jonathan Hubbard was the state indoor runner-up in the high jump. Matt Daugherty placed 4th at state in the shot put. Alex White placed 7th in the 3000m. Andrew Ping placed 9th in the triple jump. Clay Dixon placed 10th in the 800m. The boys' 4X800 relay team placed 8th. Relay team members were Alex White, Clay Dixon, Grayson Brookshire and Ben Petrey. The boys' 4x200 relay placed 10th. Relay team members were Pokey Harris, John Dixon, Andrew Walker and Darian Farris. Cora Kerber placed 8th in the 1500m, setting a new school record in the process. |
